Love a chicken!

Tom's Nan is an amazing woman. She's in her late eighties and as spritely as a teenager! At Christmas a few years ago when we had snow, she wanted to make her family smile. So she went outside (in the snow) in nothing but her swimming costume (and the union flag - because she is renowned for loving our nation's flag) and took photos! It was brilliant and everybody thought it was hilarious. This is the type of women she is - just utterly brilliant.

Anyway, one of Tom's sayings (and now one of my sayings) was adopted from his Nan. They say "Love a chicken!" instead of "Love a duck!". I have no idea why, and I don't care - because it's just brilliant.

I wanted to make Marie something to incorporate her infamous saying - and for a while I'd been thinking about doing a cross stitch but when I came across a pattern for a chicken in one of my sewing books I knew I had to make it with the saying on it!

I embroidered the "Love a chicken" saying - it's not very neat but I think that's what gives it such charm!

I've only just sent it off to her - I hope she likes it and it makes her smile. I can't wait to hear what she calls him - considering they have a black cat named Whitey. I hope she names him Ducky.
