My new found love of cooking

I used to like cooking but recently I've been feeling very uninspired by any of our recipe books. All the old favourites I'm bored of making and for a while now haven't been enjoying it. Granted, I'm very much the practical cook in our household. I want healthy meals (usually cooked from fresh ingredients) that won't take up my whole evening. My maximum amount of time spent cooking is 40 minutes.

The last time Tom and I were over at his Mum's she was testing out some new recipes from a book by a woman named Sally Bee. The food was delicious, packed full of interesting tastes and when I looked through the recipes I suddenly wanted to get cooking!

Sally Bee Books

Tom's Mum very kindly bought me all three of Sally Bee's books for my birthday and already I have bookmarked practically all of the pages in all of them! Today I tried out her Ruby Red Smoothie and I have to say it was AMAZING.

Since working from home I've noticed I'm not eating as much fruit throughout the day so this smoothie was a real treat!

You will need:

115g Rasberries
4floz of pineapple juice
8floz of natural yoghurt
5 icecubes

Blend

Strawberries

Ice

Blend Simply blitz them all up in a blender/food processor and bob's your uncle - a beautiful smoothie!

For some reason we didn't have a jug, so I decided to use my decanter instead. I picked this up at a car boot sale years ago and have never used it! I think it'll be a nice surprise for Tom when he opens the fridge!

If you want to try out a few recipes before you buy then check out Sally Bee's website. I noticed she's got this fantastic recipe up for seared scallops and butternut and parsley mash. I'm cooking this tonight!

Have you discovered any fantastic recipes lately? Or do you have any tips on how you can up your daily fruit intake?

WOW, I love the look of those books! Im very much the same, I hate cooking taking up the whole of my evening but like to eat healthily.  I love it when you end up liking every page of a recipe book! So exciting! Cant wait to see what else you do with it! I always make up batches of mixed fruit as a mid morning snack.  I also like to put fruit on my cereal to try to get it in there! xxx

Ohhh I haven't heard of Sally Bee, will have to find a couple of books and have a look through.. they look fun. I rarely eat fruit, I'm rubbish at it, so I always make sure I fill up on veggies instead!

I love your Decanter - very pretty. I'm obsessed with cooking and have been from a very young age, I think it's because I'm vegetarian and its normally easier to cook from scratch than guess ingredients of most cooked meals.

    Beautiful blog, I'm following :)
