Taking the plunge and going freelance

Feel free to pop by my website www.franswaine.com
Yes it's true. I've taken the plunge and gone freelance. I've been working in digital marketing for over six years now and I love it. I really love it. Working for myself has been something I've wanted to do for a while now and so when the opportunity presented itself - I took it. Yes, it's terrifying. Yes, I have no idea if I'll be able to afford to eat next month. Yes, I am probably crazy - but I also have this feeling in the bottom of my stomach that this is going to be the best decision I've ever made. I hope I'm right.

So, what am I actually doing? I'm now a freelance Digital Marketing Consultant. What this means in practice is very much dependent on what the client needs. It might be that a company needs help creating a marketing strategy from scratch or they might need help on a specific project such as training a team up on how best to use social media in their company.

What I'm most excited about is the opportunity to work with clients I feel truly excited and passionate about. I've already had some great meetings with some very exciting potential clients. It also means the projects I get to work on will be varied. I might be working on strategy for a small start-up one day and doing some copy-writing for an established company who need some additional resource the next. This is what I'm really looking forward to.

What's helped me masses in making this decision is the support of other freelancers. I've spent a lot of time asking a lot of questions and getting advice. I'm not naive - I know this is going to be really hard work and there will be times when I question what on earth I was thinking! But hopefully, at the end of the day I'll get more job satisfaction and will be able to spend my days loving what I do.

If you want to find out more about what I'll be doing and what services I offer then pop over to my website: www.franswaine.com. I'd love it if you did!

I've also opened a new Twitter account specifically focused on digital - so feel free to follow me if you want updates on the latest in digital marketing.

Of course - if you have a project you'd like to discuss with me or know someone that might, then get in touch!

Are you a freelancer? Or have you ever dipped your toes into the freelance pond? I'd love to hear about your experiences or any advice you have to offer!
