It was really easy to make and it looks cute, but from a practical point of view I was really disappointed. I used two lots of interfacing but it's still really flimsy and as a result not at that practical as a purse.

I did consider covering a piece of cardboard in the red polka dot fabric as an insert but not sure if that would work.
I also think the front looks a bit bare, but because of the big polka dots, buttons look silly.
Any ideas readers? I love the way this little bag looks and would be delighted if I could make it functional!

Love the polka dots. What about a huge red ribbon bow as a fastener?
ReplyDeleteI think cardboard would definitely help stiffen it up. How about fastening a brooch on the front from your lovely collection? Either as a fastening, or off to one side as decoration? xxx
ReplyDeleteOoh a bow might look really good! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteyeah I think i'll just sew in a magnetic fastener but like the brooch idea (came into my office today and Rocky had pulled apart my cat brooch I made at yours!!)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! I think a bright red yoyo would look good on it.

Inserting a kind of plasticy material such as perspex would stiffen it up and you would still be able to wash it without worrying about the cardboard getting eecky.
