Migraine Resources

I never used to search the internet for migraines - because I was so overwhelmed with information. So I thought I'd give you a round up of some of the resources I've found incredibly useful and link to some of the posts I've written on migraines that might help you. Please feel free to leave additional links in the comments if you've found anything else useful!

My blog posts

I've written quite a few posts about my experience of migraines. Personally, I've found that reading other people's experiences of migraines has helped me realise I'm not alone.

The experts in Migraine

These are the 3 main migraine charities:

The Migraine Trust - A great online community, free migraine diaries, an advocacy service for problems with migraine in the workplace and other useful resources including a travelling migraine diary where migraneurs share their experiences

The National Migraine Centre - gives you access to the top migraine specialist doctors - go book an appointment right now!

Migraine Action - run a great specialist migraine nurse phone line service and run information and education days on migraines

(I should mention that I've used ALL of the services I've mentioned here and they've been fantastic which is why I'm promoting them. Please feel free to leave a comment or email me about any of these services.)

Migraine Books

One of the best things I ever did was educate myself on migraines. What they are, how they work and how I can help manage them. These are some of the books I've read that are excellent:

Coping with Headaches and Migraines by Alison Frith - A migraine sufferer herself, Alison is a specialist migraine nurse and used to work at the National Migraine Centre.

Understanding Migraines and Other Headaches by Anne MacGregor - Top migraine doctor in the UK

Conquering Headache by Alan M. Rapoport - another fab book with lots of info on how to manage your migraines

Migraine Bloggers

Migraine Monologues - I refer to Victoria as my migraine buddy. Through migraines and blogging we became friends and her blog is a fantastic migraine blog. She manages to be witty and funny whilst also being informative.

Migraine.com - lots of information and resources including blog posts from migraine sufferers.

That M word - Another brilliant migraine blogger who uses humour to make her posts witty and laugh out loud.

  1. Totally book marking this for another day, thanks Fran.

Also, the kitty really reminded me of myself when I'm suffering, as often I can't open my eye on the left (which is where my pain lives). Cute cat!

  2. I remember my mum used to suffer from migraines when I was growing up. I hope that is not a warning that I may get them too. This post is being bookmarked in case I need to refer to it in the future.
