Halloween: Not A Time To Be Sexy

I love Halloween. I really love dressing up and making that extra effort that makes people laugh their heads off. After all that's what Halloween's about - having some fun!

A Halloween outfit from 2009
What I dislike about Halloween however, is when people use it as an excuse to do "sexy". My response? No. Just no. Dressing up as a sexy kitten or a sexy witch or a sexy devil No. No, no, no. If you are doing "sexy" as your outfit for Halloween - then you are doing it wrong. I get that people want to look nice but come on - this is the one time of year that you get the chance to look as hideous as possible - and that is WAY more fun than a sexy kitten (FYI - cats might be remotely related with Halloween - but come on - is that honestly the best you can do? Why not a cat with it's head cut off - or a zombie cat? So much better!)

One of my all time favourite Halloween parties was one I threw when I was living with my friend Tom (the lovely Hook, Line and Sinkher's boyf). We had a strict door policy - you had to be in fancy dress and sexy was NOT allowed.

I decided to go as Chucky - which involved basically looking like a young boy - dungarees and a ginger wig. Brilliant. Katie however really outdid everyone - she decided to go as the grinch -  covering herself from head to toe in green paint and green fake fur. Brilliant. To this day it is still one of the best fancy dress outfits I've ever seen.

Everyone made such a fantastic effort that night - and what really made it so great were the costumes.

So party goers - this Halloween I urge you to leave sexy at home and give hideous a try!

I'll be attending a Halloween dinner party on Wednesday and I am so excited about my costume. I've roped Tom into doing a theme with me too - so check back at the end of the week for pictures of our efforts!
